Grip-Lok

Grip-Lok® auto-feed fastening system:

For rapid attachment of FOAMULAR® XPS use our patent pending Grip-Lok® auto-feed fastening system. Use to attach insulation either to wood or steel studs (even heavy 12 gauge steel).

The Grip-Lok® auto-feed fastening system uses Owens Corning accepted Thermal-Grip™ ci washers and 3" or shorter collated screws allowing for installation of foam/wall assemblies as thick as 2½". This system is sold as a package that includes the auto-feed screw gun, nose cup adaptor (patent pending), Thermal-Grip™ washers, and Grip-Deck® collated screws to meet your project requirements.

The adjustable depth control ensures that the washer fasteners compress on the surface of the FOAMULAR® XPS allowing for flush installation of siding or wall cladding material.

Grip Deck Screws

Thermal-Grip ci washers with Grip-Deck® screws:

For proper attachment of FOAMULAR® XPS to either wood or steel substrates use our 2" diameter Thermal-Grip™ ci washer with Grip-Deck® screws.

Thermal-Grip™ ci washers compress and flatten on the surface of the FOAMULAR® XPS effectively sealing the screw penetration against air and moisture.

Thermal-Grip™ ci washer fasteners can be used on insulation as thin as ½" and compresses on the surface of the FOAMULAR® XPS for flush installation of siding or wall cladding material.

Available either pre-assembled or as separate components. Screws of various lengths and thread-types are available to meet your project requirements.

Plasti-Grip PMF

Plasti-Grip® PMF for concrete & masonry substrates:

This is the recommended and accepted fastening system for FOAMULAR® XPS over concrete or masonry substrates.

Simply pre-drill through the insulation and into the concrete, insert the fastener into hole, and tap flush with a hammer.

The Plasti-Grip® PMF fastener is made of solid plastic which virtually eliminates thermal bridging and corrosion associated with steel screws.

Plasti-Grip® PMF fasteners install flat on the surface of the FOAMULAR® XPS allowing for flush installation of wall cladding and siding materials.

Plasti-Grip® PMF fasteners are available in various lengths to allow for installation of FOAMULAR® XPS of ½" to 4" in thickness.

Thermal-Grip washers

Thermal-Grip washers for barrel-style brick-ties:

To attach FOAMULAR® XPS in brick veneer cavity wall applications use our large center-hole Thermal-Grip™ washer in combination with barrel-style brick-ties. With this new method FOAMULAR® XPS board can be mechanically attached to either wood, steel studs, or concrete/masonry substrates with the brick-tie, therefore reducing the required ci washer/screw fasteners by up to half. This greatly reduces penetrations and thermal bridging through the insulation.

Thermal-Grip™ fasteners are designed to compress on the FOAMULAR® XPS surface effectively sealing the fastener penetration against air and moisture infiltration.

Several washer variations are available to assemble with various barrel style brick-ties on the market.

  • Simply pre-drill with 5/16" masonry bit and hammer to secure FOAMULAR®XPS

Thermal-Grip brick-tie washers:

  • Large diameter washer for exceptional wind-loading resistance helps prevent blow-offs
  • Efficient method combines two steps into one by securing insulation board with brick-tie/washer combo for labor savings (vs. securing with screws/washers and then adding brick-ties)
  • Different washers are designed for several industry approved single-barrel brick-ties: (Heckman Pos-I-Tie™, Hohmann & Barnard 2-Seal Tie™, etc)
  • Washer is designed to seal the penetration against moisture and air infiltration
  • Reduces number of penetrations through insulation by almost half therefore reducing thermal bridging

Grip-Deck® collated screws for patent-pending Grip-Lok® auto-feed system:

  • Lengths available from 1 ¼" - 3" in self-drilling or coarse thread for steel or wood studs
  • Clear zinc coating for standard corrosion protection meets or exceeds ASTM-B-117
  • Self-drilling screws manufactured to meet or exceed ASTM-C-954-86
  • Manufactured in facilities that comply with ISO-9002 standards
  • Specialty coatings are available for added corrosion protection (ACQ).
